INSTRUCTORS
All instructors are fully qualified professional meteorologists, with degrees in meteorology and subsequent Met. Office training in weather observing and forecasting . When the Met. Office closed their regional offices, staff at the Norwich base set up WeatherQuest as an independent company.
WeatherQuest is situated within the University of East Anglia where it is an integral part of the School of Environmental Sciences and Climatic Research Unit. WeatherQuest staff are university lectureres. WeatherQuest provides and fronts forecasts for East Anglia BBC TV and Radio, provides the forecasts for The Times, and provides consultancy for industry and for some of the country's leading insurance companies. Staff experience includes providing dedicated forecasts for oil rig movements as well as services for local sailing clubs.
WeatherQuest has launched a new meso-scale forecast which, in coastal regions, covers 45 kilometre stretches of coastline, giving about four times the detail covered by the Inshore Waters and Area forecasts.
In addition WeatherQuest is developing forecasts based on high density raw data. This will give significantly greater accuracy than current, publicly available synoptic charts.
